Cory Catfish Eat Shrimp

Cory catfish eat shrimp pellets though not as readily as they do algae wafers and live foods.

They would love to eat live brine shrimp but they are not fast enough to hunt them. In the wild they nibble on micro food available within their reach. These fish are non aggressive and show little interest in an adult shrimp as a food source. However in some cases these fish have been known to eat shrimp babies particularly cherry shrimp babies.

A pygmy cory catfish can also live alongside adult shrimp populations. I keep corydoras habrosus with cherry shrimp. I have not kept other dwarf corydoras. Feeding pygmy cory is no biggy.

Mind you this is a 4ft tank with heaps of high growing feathery weed with timber and hollow rocks so plenty of places for the shrimp to hide. Plese note that it s not uncommon for cory catfish to ignore or only nibble on shrimp pellets especially if you don t soften them first. Filter shrimp such as wood shrimps and snails such as nerite snails can all live peacefully together. They make a good option when you want to give your fish something different for a change.

Brine shrimp have excellent protein content especially baby brine shrimp. Will cory cats eat cherry shrimp. I don t think the cory s would bother adult shrimp but if you have little ones they may take the opportunity with them. I ve only kept my shrimp with dwarf cory s and that s not a problem and i would guess you d be okay with the sterbei s too as long as you have plenty of cover for the shrimp.

Whereas in the aquarium you can feed them a wide variety of meals such as. They may not do so well in a smaller tank with less plant life. Cory catfish tank mates include most community tank fish as long as they are non aggressive and friendly in nature. Corys can also live with other types of catfish such as ottos or plecs or some other types of an animal such as snails or shrimps.

Cherry shrimp and dwarf corydoras are great tankmates in my experience. Cory catfish tank mates can also include filter feeding shrimp such as bamboo shrimp and fan feeding shrimp like vampire shrimp. Cory catfish do eat brine shrimp but only frozen or freeze dried brine shrimps. When i have seen the peppereds get too close to the shrimp the shrimp are very quick to shoot backwards away from the cory s.

Cories and ghost shrimp are good tank mates together the baby shrimp may get eaten though.
